Sustainability
Our commitment to sustainability
Building a Greener Future
At A.D. Calvert Stone, sustainability shapes every part of what we do – from responsible quarrying to efficient production. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually improving the way we work. A major milestone in this journey is the successful achievement of our Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). This independently verified accreditation provides clear, transparent data on the environmental performance of our products, giving architects, builders, and designers the confidence to specify materials that support sustainable design.
Our commitment extends beyond certification. Our on‑site solar farm supplies clean, renewable energy to power our operations, significantly reducing our carbon footprint and reliance on fossil fuels. Alongside initiatives such as recycling materials and adopting sustainable quarrying practices, we are proud to deliver high‑quality stone products that respect both our customers’ expectations and the environment.
Our Witton Fell sandstone is quarried exclusively by us, and our products are produced at our workshop here in Leyburn. Keeping quarrying and manufacturing close to home reduces transport emissions and helps us minimise the overall carbon footprint of every project.Â

Why our EPD makes a difference
Leading The Way in Sustainable Stone
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) sets a new standard for transparency in the construction and design industries. It provides independently verified information on a product’s environmental impact – from raw material extraction through to production – helping our clients make informed, sustainable choices, safe in the knowledge that our products align with environmentally responsible practices.
Our EPD accreditation, demonstrates our clear commitment to sustainability, accountability, and continuous improvement. As demand for environmentally responsible building materials continues to grow, our EPD strengthens our ability to support modern, eco‑conscious clients and projects without compromising on performance, quality, or aesthetic appeal.
Through this achievement, we aim to set a benchmark for sustainable stone – contributing to a more responsible built environment today and for the future.
