Where Heritage Craft Meets Atmospheric Design
The Saddle Room Wine Cellar was designed as both a functional storage space and a striking architectural feature. At the heart of the project was the careful manufacture of bespoke Witton Fell sandstone bases and hand‑finished capstones, created to form a series of elegant structural piers throughout the cellar. Each piece was crafted with precision, allowing the natural character of the stone to remain visible while achieving a refined, cohesive finish. The warm tones and subtle texture of the sandstone were carefully considered to sit comfortably alongside the existing brick columns and arched ceiling, creating a sense of balance and visual continuity throughout the space.
Practical Beauty in Every Stone Detail
In addition to the structural stonework, a collection of Witton Fell solid stone shelves was produced to serve as dedicated wine racks. These shelves were thoughtfully integrated into the overall design, combining visual impact with practical purpose. Set against the backdrop of brickwork above and between the stone piers, they contribute to a layered, material‑rich interior that feels both robust and considered. Beyond aesthetics, the natural qualities of the stone help to maintain a stable, cool environment, supporting ideal conditions for long‑term wine storage.
