Matching existing buildings and environment
Hard landscaping and construction of outdoor features to match existing buildings forms a large part of our work for new-build projects. This clocktower and new estate barn replaced an old wooden building on the Tupgill Park Estate in Coverdale. Being sited within the Yorkshire Dales National Park places additional restrictions on design, materials and quality standards so it was essential that the new building should blend naturally with its surroundings.
Similarly, but for slightly different reasons, an extension to private house in Swaledale (below) and the landscaping of its formal terraced garden had to be approached sensitively as a cohesive whole. Essentially the new work had to blend seamlessly into the existing house and, equally importantly, the gardens must
not look unnatural or out of place in the distinctive Dales panorama.
Building work on both projects was the responsibility of
our sister company A.R.
Calvert (Builders).
